About Me

Marga Burke
Experience

I have many years' experience as an in-house subtitler with Visiontext (UK), and have also worked for Eurologos (Belgium), translating and editing mainly advertising and promotional texts. Outside the translation industry, I have been employed by the UK's National Health Service as a medical secretary and health information advisor, researching health-related issues and providing information to the general public. I am now a full-time, freelance translator and subtitler.

I also teach subtitling on Leeds University’s MA in Audiovisual Translation Studies, and have taught MA students at Newcastle University. I am a graduate of ITI's Professional Support Group for freelance translators, and the voluntary webmaster for a mental-health website. In my spare time I enjoy writing and translating poetry.

For more details of the types of projects I have undertaken, see my medical translation, creative translation and subtitling pages.
Or you can download my CV in English or French from the links at the bottom of this page (Italian version coming soon).
